1. Variable particle size sanding sponge
These sanding sponges are everyday sanding tools. Similar to regular sandpaper, sanding sponges come in a variety of grits.
Sanding sponges are like regular sandpaper; the lower the number, the rougher the grit and the more material the sanding sponge removes. Again, a higher particle size will give you a smoother surface but remove less material.
There are also sanding sponges in various sizes. Some are so large that they can fill your entire hand. Larger sponges can be used to smooth drywall or prepare furniture for painting. Smaller sanding sponges are suitable for detail work.

3. Corner polishing sponge
This sanding sponge has beveled edges that allow you to sand in tight places.
If you want to sand a groove on your trim, or you have a tight corner, bevel sanding sponges will give you an advantage because they can apply pressure in tight spots.
